Over the long bank holiday weekend past, I went off adventuring to England again, as I always do when opportunity presents itself! This time Jordan and I visited the Peak District with the aim to have a good time and maybe conquer a few phobias while at it. Despite my pleading to go horse-riding in the highest village in Britain (Flash), Jordan won out and we went Tree Top Adventuring in Buxton.
Go Ape! was grrrrr-eat... I loved it! Jordan loved it! And everyone else in the group loved it. It was nothing like what I expected, you were trained in the basic safety then up you went with no instructors. You could work around the 5 courses at your own pace. For £30 it wasn't a bad day out and would be great for all ages. Though I've learnt from experience that being organised and booking 2 weeks in advance isn't the best idea - after liking the Go Ape! twitter page I received 2 offers that would have got 10% each adult. (keep that in mind) [@GoApeTribe]. Fantastic day out.
Also just a 5 minute walk from GoApe (well really only down the car park) was the Poole Caverns. We went on a tour of the caverns, which was very informative and not *yawn* boring at all...both really enjoyed the caverns and would recommend it again! The Poole Cavern vistor center has a play park for young children, lots of picnic tables and shelter (if you want to bring a picnic) but it also has a reasonably priced cafe inside and giftshop. The prices for the tour seemed quite expensive at:
Adult £8.50, Concession (Students & 65+) £7.50, Children (0-16) £5 and
Family (2 Adults and 3 Children) £24
But, after being on the tour and seeing the effort, time and enthusiasm the tour guide put in, I think it was well worth it. All in all, had a fantastic time in Buxton, a beautiful, friendly place with lots to see and do, whether you want to climb trees, learn some history, walk or just sit and watch the world go by.
